No one can have enough ways to cool down in the heat of summer. This summer cooler of Peach Lemonade is a must have in your summer recipe list – whether it is for everyday or picnics or backyard parties!
Lemonade is always a favorite summer drink of mine. Growing up, we knew only one kind of lemonade. The plain simple, sweet and tangy unadulterated lemonade. I would help amma make it by squeezing the lemons and then adding a truck load of sugar and mixing it. We always had a lot of lemons stocked up to make a quick lemonade in case someone dropped in unexpectedly. No one ever said no to the offer of cool lemonade, especially when you are dealing with the brutally hot Indian summers.
But the lemonade lovers fell in different camps. Some liked theirs with sugar and only sugar and lots of it. I was one of them. Some loved it with a combination of salt and sugar – I think that was a smart choice especially to deal with dehydration in the summer months. Some loved it with just salt and I never understood that. I still cant understand that. But each to their own, I guess.
I first had flavored lemonades when I came to the US. Strawberry lemonade was my first drink and I was skeptical about it. I loved my plain and simple lemonade a lot but I couldn’t find a reason to not like the strawberry lemonade. I think I just couldn’t call it a lemonade – it was more a tangy strawberry beverage. But then it grew on me and I now love making lemonades at home. Peach lemonade, Strawberry Basil lemonade, Mint lemonade, Mango lemonade and what not! I love trying to make lemonades with different fruit and herb combinations to see what works. V loves it too! So there is always someone to finish them off if I find any combinations a little odd. Does that make me a bad mom?!? I wonder. Well, I am giving him fresh healthy food and I think I don’t have to feel guilty about that
