The warm fragrance of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven is what you want going on in your kitchen as you and your family huddle around the tree on Christmas morning, opening presents and sipping coffee or hot cocoa.

Christmas morning or any other holiday morning is the one day when you don't really want to worry too much about breakfast. Make ahead breakfasts or even prepping ahead overnight, so all you have to do is reheat or pop it in the oven to bake.

Easy peasy and delicious breakfast is ready. And you don't even have to be in the kitchen for the entire time to make this happen.

  • Core and chop apples. You can peel them if you want but it is not necessary. Toss them in ground cinnamon, brown sugar and just a little lemon juice, just to keep them from browning.
  • Butter a casserole dish and tear up the brioche bread into roughly equal sized pieces and fit them into the baking dish.
  • Scatter the apples around the bread slices and tuck some of them in, so every bite has a little bit of the apple goodness in it.
