The little guy is going to have a ton of fun and be pampered spoilt by grandparents, uncles and the rest of the family, for the next few weeks while we are in India. I bet there is going to be a lot more different kind of Little People Food that he eats there and I will be sure to capture all that to report back here.

Till then, here is one of V’s favorites – Sausage and Egg Fried Rice.

Sausage and Egg Fried Rice – The Recipe

  • 1 cup Basmati Rice
  • 2 cups water
  • salt
  • ½ tbsp butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ onions, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • ½ green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 chicken sausages, chopped
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp chili garlic paste

Rinse the rice well in water and cook in the 2 cups of water with a little salt, over medium heat, until water is evaporated. Remove from heat, fluff with a fork and keep aside.

In a wok like pan, heat the butter over medium heat, add the egg, salt and pepper and scramble the egg and move it to a bowl.

In the same pan, heat the oil, add the onions, carrot, bell pepper, sausage and all the sauces and paste and stir fry over high heat, until cooked. Reduce the heat, add the rice and the scrambled eggs. Mix well and remove from heat.
