Mixed Berry Rose Lassi

{This post originally appeared in SweetCs.com, where I wrote this as a guest author}

Now that it looks like warm(ish) weather is finally here to the PNW side of the world, I am thinking of all the wonderful cold drinks I can make and sip while I sit outside enjoying the sun and our backyard. Lassi is always a favorite in our household, especially with the little kiddo.

Lassi is essentially a cold yogurt drink that is either sweetened with sugar or a savory version with salt and spices or just salt. I love the Sweet Lassi, that is made so sweet that you can easily have it for dessert. It is made with yogurt that has the right amount of sourness to it to balance out all that sweetness to make is so very refreshing.

Growing up in India, lassi always meant only the salted one or the sweet one. There never was any variations with fruits or other flavors. It is after coming here to the United States that I noticed the mango version of the lassi in almost every Indian restaurant out here. It was as if, that was the thing here. I tasted one and loved it. It somehow does not give you the refreshing satisfaction of the plain sweet lassi but it is such a great drink in itself.

That opened up a world of possibilities for me and I then started making lassi with all different kinds of flavors in it and most all turned out really good. I mean, yogurt sweetened with fruits can not really be bad right. None of them still come close to the satisfaction that a plain sweet lassi gives me, probably because that is what I grew up with, but I love making lassi for summer all the time.

Here are some lassi recipes from Cooking Curries, that you can take a look at, to be inspired to try out your own versions at home.

Don't be afraid to mix and match different flavors, just like you would for ice creams, smoothies etc and you will be very surprised 🙂 Let me know if you have a favorite.
