Sieve the flours together. Add the red chilli powder, crushed black pepper, salt, asafoetida, baking soda to the flours and mix well together.
Add the butter and mix it into the flour mix.
Add water little by little, kneading the mixture by hand, till the dough starts to become firm, but still should not stick to your hands a lot.
Heat the oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
Put a little of the dough into the sev press and press the dough, so that the strands coming out fall directly into the hot oil.
Deep fry till the color changes to golden brown.
Drain on paper towels. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
Transfer to an airtight container once cooled completely.
