A collection of prep ahead, make ahead breakfast recipes to make those back to school mornings just a little bit easier!
We all know how crazy mornings can get. Waking up those sleepy heads, getting them dressed and ready, fed and out of the door and you feel like a day's worth of work has been done.
Here is a small collection of breakfast recipes with tips on how to prep them or make them ahead, to make those back to school mornings just a little easier for all you moms and dads out there!
Pancake, Waffle and French Toast
Make Ahead Tip
Mix all the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl, close it and keep it on the countertop. Mix all the wet ingredients together and keep it in the refrigerator the night before. That way, you don't have to go around looking for the recipe or the ingredients in the morning. Just mix the two and make the pancakes or waffles!
You can also make ahead on a Sunday and refrigerate for up to two days or freeze it for more. Reheat in the toaster oven and smear some butter to bring it back to life.
Breakfast Casseroles
These are usually my go-to breakfasts for weekends and holidays but it is just as easy to make them on a weekday morning and is sure a treat.
Assemble the night before and refrigerate. In the morning, preheat the oven and pop them in to bake.
Smoothies
Smoothies are so easy to make in the mornings and the littles can help with them as well. I like to add some extra goodies like chia seeds, hemp hearts and flax meal to the smoothie for some added goodness.
Oatmeal and Chia Pudding
Oatmeal is not just nutritious and so full of fiber, which makes it a great breakfast, it is also so very easy to make and there are just so many ways to make it. My kids love oatmeal and its always a treat when I top it off with some sliced bananas or fresh berries.
I know there are days where no amount of planning and prepping is enough. On those days we resort to cereal. I buy the ones with least amount of sugar in them or are sweetened with fruit or other natural forms of sugar. Some days it is a combo of a couple of quick things for breakfast
- Bagels with whipped cream cheese
- Buttered toast and boiled eggs
- Muffins, boiled eggs and yogurt
- Yogurt, granola and fruit - these Waffle Bowl Breakfast parfaits are always a hit
